  • The test assesses your risk for developing a cardiovascular disease
  • It helps to evaluate the level of inflammation in your body

CRP, also referred to as C-reactive protein, is a high-sensitivity test measuring inflammation and your risk for developing a cardiovascular disease. CRP values are in correlation with the level of inflammatory processes (so-called acute phase proteins) and decrease quickly during remission of the disease.

When assessing the cardiovascular risk, it is important to exclude any concomitant infections or inflammatory diseases (to ensure this, the test should be taken when completely healthy or at least 2-3 weeks after the occurrence of the last acute disease).

To assess the onset of atherosclerosis, CRP values are evaluated together with the results of serum lipid tests.

The test results are returned in up to 2 working days.

Reference value (assessment of inflammation): < 10 mg/L
